A search and rescue operation for tornado victims is continuing this morning in the Apison area of eastern Hamilton County.
Bill Tittle, Hamilton County’s emergency management chief, said eight people have been confirmed dead there, and 48 have been rescued and transported to hospitals.
The area was hit hard by a tornado during the final wave of storms Wednesday.
