Woman arrested after striking couple with car

A woman turned herself in Thursday after being accused of hitting a couple with her car at Lookout Valley Elementary School, police say.

Michelle L. Crane, 27, faces two counts of aggravated assault and one count of assault after she reportedly punched Heather Riley in the face, then struck Riley and Jim Freeman with the front of her silver sport utility vehicle, according to an arrest report.

Police responded to Erlanger hospital, where Riley and Freeman, who are married, were being treated for their injuries. Riley sustained injuries to her foot and Freeman had an injured hand, the report said.

Riley told police that she received a text message on Jan. 29 that a relative was intoxicated and needed a ride from the school's parking lot, located at 701 Browns Ferry Road.

When the couple arrived, Crane allegedly argued with Riley and Freeman, saying the intoxicated family member was coming with her. She then struck Riley and re-entered the SUV, later hitting the couple with the vehicle, according to the report.

The relationship between Crane and Riley and Freeman is unclear.

Crane posted a $12,500 bond, according to jail records, and her next court date is slated for Feb. 17.
