Lady Mocs beat Furman

GREENVILLE, S.C. — The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s basketball team survived a few tense moments early in the second half before cruising past Furman 83-65 tonight at Timmons Arena.

The Lady Mocs led by 13, 42-29, at the half, but Furman was able to cut the margin to 8 a couple of times in the first five minutes of the second half.

Led by Whitney Hood and Kayla Christopher, UTC (12-12, 9-6 Southern Conference) was able to pull away with a 23-11 run to resume control of the game.

Hood led all scorers with 25 points, Christopher added 22 and Bailey Dewart matched her career high with 11 rebounds.
