Chattanooga man shot outside 45th Street nightclub

A Chattanooga man told police he tried to stop a fight outside the 45th Street Lounge early this morning and was shot in the thigh, according to a news release.

Taurus Pollard, 33, said he and a friend were leaving the club at 211 W. 45th St. when a group of men approached and tried to start a fight. Pollard said one of the group pulled a gun and shot him, according to the release from police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary.

He said the shooter was a black male in his 20s, 5 feet, 8 inches tall and 130 pounds, wearing a brown Bugle Boy T-shirt.

Police are looking for a lead, Weary said. Pollard is in stable condition.
