Chattanooga robbery reported through Facebook

Police responded to a robbery last night that occurred at 7710 East Brainerd Road.

According to police, Rolanda Hill, 20, reported the crime afterward to her Facebook friends asking for someone to call the police.

According to police, Hill said someone knocked on her apartment door and forced his way inside as soon as she opened it.

Hill was held at gunpoint while the man demanded her money and cell phone, police said.

Hill describes the suspect as a black male, about six feet tall, a thin build and armed with a gun.

Definitely a sign of the times. Social media is becoming the predominate way to communicate. Soon we will be giving out our Facboook page or Twitter Id not our phone number.

Many people (including myself) don't have land lines; only cell phones. If the robber took her cell phone she had no phone of any kind. And assuming either her neighbors weren't home or she was scared and not thinking clearly enough to go to them, probably the quickest way to contact authorities was to use her computer to get her Facebook friends to call the police.
