Evolutionists delude themselves

The recent rant against creation is typical of pseudo-scientists. Many don't understand science and what it is.

True science is inductive, which means it relies on observation and experimentation to form conclusions.

Faith is deductive, which begins with a desired conclusion and seeks to support it with evidence, which requires faith and contains an element of doubt no matter how compelling the evidence.

Since no one observed the origins of life on Earth, and there have been no successful experiments to replicate the formation of life, the origin of life remains in the realm of faith for both the creationist and the evolutionist.

Organic evolution relies on the premise that matter and energy came from nowhere or always existed.

Creationism relies on the premise God has always existed and He created.

Both viewpoints are faith and equally valid, but neither is scientific.

The differences are those beholding to creationism are intellectually honest and admit their faith, while the pseudo-science evolutionists claim their assumptions are "facts" and delude themselves that beliefs are based on true scientific induction.

There are only two possibilities when it comes to the origins of life: In the beginning God created or He did not. Both are matters of faith.

ROY CURTIS, Jasper, Tenn.

It's time to end Obama 'kingship'

Campaigning candidate Barack Obama warned; "We are five days away from fundamentally changing the United States of America." Later, Valarie Jarrett, Obama's senior adviser, pledged: "We will be ready to rule from day one." Obama's chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, later advised they should "never let a crisis go to waste."

Using sordid tactics of Saul Alinsky's playbook, "Rules for Radicals," Obama and his czar-minions target a strategic market segment, create public perception that it has a catastrophic infrastructure problem, label it a "national crisis," propagandize that only the federal government can "fix" the crisis, then pass a draconian law to seize the industry "causing" the crisis. This process is repeated in other segments -- i.e., health care, banking, environment -- "fundamentally" transforming America into socialism.

Obama's recent tyrannical power-grabs: sneaking language into the "National Defense Authorization Act" that allows him to "indefinitely detain U.S. citizens" -- a draconian threat to our civil liberties; and signing the "National Defense Resources Preparedness" executive order, granting himself control of every aspect of the American economy in the event of war, or even during a peacetime "emergency."

Obama's "messianic" reign is exposed, and we should end his unconstitutional "kingship" in November.

PAUL SHEARER

Well put Roy Curtis and please be aware that most of the pseudo-evolutionists will call non-intellectual and stupid all who do not take their position completely as fact and scientific. This assumes a superiority and exudes an arrogance which is often difficult to stomach. On the other side, many people of faith can act arrogant as well. A balanced approach is as you conveyed the acknowledgment that it takes faith in either instance. This applies even with people who claim to believe in nothing. They purport that from nothing is where we came. If so, is there where we may also be heading?

Yeah, and you ran away without addressing the points made to you, came back and spewed something about physics and cosmology, then ran away again. When are you going to stop dodging and discuss the BIOLOGY and EVOLUTION that the discussion was about?

Curtis/Livn4life: The usual Creationists "alchemy", i.e., trying to turn science into faith and faith into science. I have "faith" that a proton consists of 2 up quarks and 1 down quark and that our species (H. Sapiens) arose about 200,000 yrs. ago from H. Erectus. Evolution is about the origin of species, not the origin of life.

Bravo Paul Shearer. It looks like someone is not fooled by the liberal media slant on the news. You have taken the time to research Obama and look what you found, the truth. At least there are two of us.

una61: the origin of life and species are one in the same and cannot logically be separated. And as far as your faith, if you can cite one example of cross species evolution (not intra species as were all Darwin’s examples) or provide a legitimate example in the “fossil record” I will cede the argument to you.

rcurtis: The fossil Tiktaalik rosea, whose discovery and age were predicted in advance, has fins that are in the process of evolving to forelegs with a "wrist" bone configuration. The ultimate transitional fossil. They knew, based on evolution, that this fossil could be out there and in what age and type of strata it would be found.

Wow. With the mllions of supposed mutations and the only example you can find is this. If you researched further you would have discovered that not only is the interpretation of the "wrist" a minority interpretation but the fossil condition does not allow for exact structure of such small bones.

rcurtis: So you are an expert and thousands of paleontologists are wrong. Silly me. I thought you really wanted information when you posted. Guess I wasted my time-you don't really want to learn anything and your mind is made up. If I'm wrong about that, you might try reading At The Water's Edge by Carl Zimmer, who does a beautiful job of describing the evolution of whales, which of course involves a string of transitional fossils.
