Bradley County deputy saves 2 from fire

A Bradley County deputy sheriff responding to a burglar alarm Saturday morning at a home on El Monte Drive spotted flames on the front porch to another home nearby.

Deputy Tommy Kimsey ran to the door and alerted the people inside, according to a news release from the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office.

A 35-year-old man and his 7-year-old son had been in bed and were unaware the porch was on fire, the release stated. Kimsey and the two unidentified residents fled out a back door.

Kimsey’s face was slightly burned. He was treated at SkyRidge Medical Center and went back to work, the release stated. The man and his son were not injured.

The double-wide mobile home was extensively damaged. The cause of the fire is unknown, the release stated.
