Chattanooga Classic tournament director Mickey McCamish said the PGA Tour's decision to partner with Web.com to become the umbrella sponsor of what's been known as the Nationwide Tour opens new potential title sponsors for the Chattanooga Classic.
"We are now able to talk with insurance companies such as Unum and BlueCross BlueShield, and that was one of the things that first struck me," McCamish said. "It opens doors to companies that we couldn't approach."
The Classic is not being held this year due to reconstruction at Black Creek Club and reorganization of Erlanger Medical Center, which was the sponsor last fall of the Children's Hospital Chattanooga Classic.
"We're still looking for a major sponsor, and we would love to do it again," said Chip Baker, executive director of Friends of the Festival, which operated the tournament. "There's a lot of blood, sweat and tears in the Classic."
