The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga softball team placed a Southern Conference-record nine players on the all-conference team, led by senior designated player Michelle Fuzzard, who was named SoCon player of the year for the second consecutive year.
The all-conference team, which was announced Monday, was selected in a vote by the league’s nine coaches.
UTC had four players on the all-conference first team. Fuzzard was joined by senior catcher Vivian Morimoto, junior first baseman Kasey Tydingco and junior second baseman Sara Poteat in receiving first-team honors.
The five Lady Mocs on the second team are senior shortstop Jessica Traxler, freshman third baseman Sarah Beth Roberts, sophomore outfielder Stephanie Rieck, freshman outfielder Cheyenne Willis and freshman pitcher Taylor Deason.
Georgia Southern’s Sarah Purvis was named Southern Conference pitcher of the year and GSU coach Annie Smith was coach of the year. Appalachian State’s Sarah Warnock was named freshman of the year.
