New September art exhibits opening this week in the Chattanooga area

• Athens Arts Center: 320 N. White St., Athens, Tenn. "McMinn County En Plein Air," regional landscapes by Chris Ingram, holds its opening reception at 5:30 p.m. Friday. 423-745-8781.

• AVA Gallery: 30 Frazier Ave. "Fresh: 2012 AVA Emerging Artist Exhibition" opens Friday. 265-4282.
