The Wrest Trio — Jack Wright (saxophone), Evan Lipson (bass) and Ben Bennett (percussion) — will kick off an 11-day tour of the Southeast with a show tonight, April 4, at Barking Legs Theater.

Presented by Flying Fingers Productions and the Shaking Ray Levi Society, the concert will be a showcase for the musicians' experimental free improvisation.

Wright explains the result of such visionary efforts on the BLT website: "The Wrest (or no wrestling in the house) Trio never does serious bodily harm but would scare your aunties and in-laws out of the room real quick. Sound and magic tricks on sax, floor percussion, bass. If we knew what we were doing, we'd be doing it."

The musicians released a CD from September 2012 shows in Pennsylvania and Ohio, where Wright and Bennett reside, respectively. Lipson lives in Chattanooga.

Samples of their music can be heard at www.springgardenmusic.com/The_Wrest_Trio.htm.
