about Clay Bennett...

The son of a career army officer, Bennett led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1980 from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Art and History. After brief stints as a staff artist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Fayetteville (NC) Times, he went on to serve as the editorial cartoonist for the St. Petersburg Times (1981-1994) and The Christian Science Monitor (1997-2007), before joining the staff of the ...

Progressives are hopeless wishful fools. ID's are required for the most basic of things. Lastly when 94-97 % of a race vote for a man, given the man's track record: tell me how that's not racism. Seems the curse of Canaan is still in full effect--when a race of people trust more in father government than the God who is. Black families were mostly 2-parent families, and very conservative in the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s.

Tell me more about the progress of the black man and how the government has helped them. I do not think Clay understands the meaning of the word.

Did anyone even notice that Mr. Bennett changed the toon(the words)from Sunday to Monday after I called him on his misquote both Sunday and Monday?

Now there is only the one toon in the archive, the Monday one.

Now, alprova comes on the Monday toon at 9:31 p.m. and tells those up that late that I stepped in it regarding one of my statements about homosexuality.

You are absolutely losing your mind. The cartoon was the same on Sunday and Monday. No changes were made.

"Now, alprova comes on the Monday toon at 9:31 p.m. and tells those up that late that I stepped in it regarding one of my statements about homosexuality."

It already has been refuted but you refuse to accept the truth. But since you aren't known for the truth you cannot be expected to accept the truth.

In Matthew 19 when discussing divorce with the Pharisee Jesus refers the Pharisees back to what the Creator said thru moses in the Old testament that he made them male and female. He will leave his parents and be united with his wife. Now, where is the certificate of divorce for the homosexual couple? Why wasn't that also addressed? it wasn't addressed because you can't issue a certificate of divorce for a marriage that god doesn't accept in the first place.

You can make your argument before God one day, you just won't be able to cut and paste his words.

At the time of his assassination Dr. King was on the verge of taking his civil rights activism to the next level and fighting against the economic injustices of the day. And he knew that those injustices and inequities cut a swath along all racial lines. As great as those injustices were in the 60s, they pale in comparison to what they are today, since the system has been rigged to favor the rich and the powerful for the past 30 years and more, and the income gap between the 1% and the rest of us has widened to such an obscenely wide margin.

Much of the racial injustice we see today can be attributed to the economic injustice that plagues this country, affecting disproportionately the black people and other minorities. I don't know who or what it will take to throw off the shackles of the lingering Reaganomics malaise and the stultifying mindset of anti-government mania that is held by those on the far-right, but I wish that someone of Dr. King's stature, vision, and fearlessness would step up to the plate and lead the foray. Obama is certainly no Dr. King. Nor is he anything even remotely reminiscent of FDR. He seldom if ever invokes the name of either one of them but he often mentions the name of Reagan, fawning and gushing over him like some giddy Republican groupie.

alprova, after looking at your statement, I can easily cite verses where Jesus "addressed homosexuality, personally."

He addressed homosexuality when he addressed ALL sexual sin. All sex outside of marriage is sin.

In Scripture the all encompassing/umbrella term that includes all sex outside of marriage is fornication. This includes adultery, sex of the unmarried, sex with animals, sex with a sibling/parent, and the one sin which you constantly seek to defend -homosexuality, to name some.

Jesus said: "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications (Greek, porneiva), thefts, false witness, blasphemies" Matthew 15:19

porneiva is the Greek, porneia is the transliterated word, this is the origin of our word pornography.

Definition from the The KJV New Testament Greek Lexicon:

"illicit sexual intercourse adultery, fornication, homosexuality, lesbianism, intercourse with animals etc. sexual intercourse with close relatives; Lev. 18 sexual intercourse with a divorced man or woman; Mk. 10:11"

"But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication (pornieva, all sex outside of marriage) causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery" Matthew 5:32

As I put forth at 1:32 p.m. fornication (pornieva) was the word used by Jesus which includes all sex outside of marriage and this would most certainly include the sin of homosexuality.

So, if one is married and has homosexual sex with another, Jesus says there is grounds for divorce.

Why do you perpetuate this same lie over and over yet you never provide an example of someone who was qualified but denied a photo I.D. due to lack of documentation?

From the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security:

Under the new voter ID law, in order to get a photo ID for voting purposes, voters must show the following documentation to a Driver Service Center examiner:

Proof of citizenship (such as a birth certificate); and

Two proofs of Tennessee residency (such as a copy of a utility bill, vehicle registration/title, or bank statement).

It is very important to bring these documents to the Driver Service Center. Under the law, the Department of Safety and Homeland Security cannot issue a photo ID without each of these required items. (If you do not have a birth certificate, ask to speak to a Driver Service Center manager who will work with you to identify possible other documentation to prove citizenship).

Last night, as Cyrus stalked the stage, mugging and twerking, and paused to spank and simulate analingus upon the ass of a thickly set African-American backup dancer, her act tipped over into what we may as well just call racism: a minstrel show routine whose ghoulishness was heightened by Cyrus’s madcap charisma, and by the dark beauty of “We Can’t Stop”.

A doctoral dissertation could (and will) be written on the racial, class, and gender dynamics of Cyrus’s shtick.

Hardly a week goes by that we don’t read about “false flag” activities like this:

From nj.com:

The black St. Peter’s Prep student who purportedly received racist text messages warning him to drop out of the Jersey City high school's student government election sent the texts to himself, a school official confirmed last week.

The 16-year-old was running for president for the Student Council in May when he supposedly received four hateful text messages. He brought them to the attention of school officials who called in his father and police.

"We have NEVER and will NEVER have an (n-word) to lead our school," was one of the messages supposedly sent to the 16-year-old student, who at the time, was a resident in Jersey City. The message went on to call President Obama by his middle name Hussein and used a racial slur in referring to Obama, a police report said. "We will never make that mistake again. Drop out right now . . ." it continued, a police report said.

A second message read "Whites! Your a waste on this earth, a waste at this school, and most importantly a Waste for this campaign." That message called the student government candidate a "slave" and used a racial slur, a report said.

The third message texted to -- and as it turns out from -- the student, contained a warning to drop out of the race and the fourth read, in part, "COMEONE your black!!! lol your a joke for even trying to run," according to a police report.

In an interview with The Jersey Journal at the time the texts were sent, the boy’s father said his son was “extremely nervous and feels threatened” and did not want to be interviewed.

"He is the type of boy who does not want any kind of trouble," the father said. "It's so sad. He doesn't want the image of the school to be tainted."

"It is a predominantly white school and there may be a few sections of the school who are fearful of a new face trying to get in office,” the father said at the time.

And yet it continues unabated:

One of the two students removed from Oberlin College for allegedly circulating virulently racist, anti-Jewish and anti-gay messages around campus is an ardent leftist and committed supporter of President Barack Obama.

Dylan Bleier, one of the two students, organized a voter registration drive on behalf of Obama before the 2008 election.

Bleier noted that he was the founder and president of the Ithaca High School for Obama club. He also identified himself as a member of the Oberlin College Democrats.

Bleier also listed his participation in a group called Ithaca White Allies Against Structural Racism. He joined the group in May of this year, he reported. He said the group’s goal is to “eradicate structural racism in Tompkins County [NY], via forums discussing racism.”

On his Twitter account Bleier hailed Obama’s comments on George Zimmerman, tweeting: “Zimmerman is just the tip of the iceberg, a single highly visible symptom of the racist system that is ‘succeeding’ in the US.”

Bleier also describes himself on Twitter as an “atheist/pacifist/environmentalist/libertarian socialist/consequentialist.”

The progressive school canceled all classes for a day in a mad scramble to address the alleged hate-related incidents the campus. The saga culminated in a report of a person wearing a hood and robe resembling a KKK outfit near the Afrikan Heritage House.

Senior Sunceray Tabler reported the alleged KKK sighting. Concerned students gathered that night. By morning, they had convinced school administrators to cancel classes for a day and hold a campus-wide teach-ins focusing on racism and homophobia.

Oberlin police Lt. Mike McCloskey stated that Tabler’s boyfriend, who was with her at the time of the incident, said he didn’t see anyone wearing racist attire.

On Feb. 27, Oberlin security officers finally caught Bleier and Alden — apparently red-handed — in the process of their hateful message circulation. At the time, according to the report, one of the students had discarded a piece of paper reading: “Islam. It kills.”

Bleier attempted to explain away the incriminating evidence, according to the police report.

“I’m doing it as a joke to see the college overreact to it as they have with the other racial postings that have been posted on campus,” he told campus cops.

Cornell University law professor William Jacobson said the fraudulent hate-related incidents “may be the greatest race hoax since Tawana Brawley.”

Jacobson has unsuccessfully reached out to Oberlin officials for comment on the incidents on several occasions.

“Oberlin allowed the entire country to go through months of hand wringing over supposedly racist incidents knowing full well it was a hoax. If the president of Oberlin knew of this hoax and allowed Oberlin falsely to be portrayed as a racist campus, he should resign.”

"The idea that we are to accept a mass-murderer as an object of worship doesn't reflect well upon Christians at all. If he murdered nearly every human on the planet, God is far more heinous than Hitler. Yet Christians are to willfully worship him without question. Why?"

"If you believe the Bible to be 100% accurate in all regards, then you by default believe God to be a mass-murderer."

"Face the truth for once in your life. God is a murderer and a mass-murderer at that...IF THE BIBLE IS ACCURATE."

"Your belief in the Bible as a literal work of God locks you into the belief that God is a mass-murder, whether you admit it or not. My belief that the Bible is not the word of God, and instead is the work of many men, frees me from that belief."

"My belief that the Bible is not the word of God in no manner is equal to holding any contempt for it."

"God gave us all a brain to think with and to question that which deserves an answer. I've wondered for years why the Biblical story of the great flood is so easily accepted, in that God once murdered all life on Earth, save for a few."

Oak Park, Ill.: Two blacks repeatedly punched a young white man; one of the two attackers told police he beat the victim because he was upset with the Trayvon case.

Toledo, Ohio: A 78-year-old man was severely beaten by a group of black youths while they shouted “this is for Trayvon.”

Washington, D.C.: Three black men robbed and beat a white man, stealing his wallet and iPhone. One of the black men said, “This is for Trayvon Martin” as they approached the victim.

Mobile, Ala.: A white man was attacked by 20 black adults who hit him with chairs, pipes, brass knuckles, and paint cans. As the group left, two witnesses reported one assailant said, “Now that’s justice for Trayvon.”

Baltimore, Md.: A group of black youths beat a Hispanic man while saying, “This is for Trayvon.”

Chester County, Pa.: Firefighters responded to an arson started at a white-owned business with the words “Kill Zimmerman” painted in red on the front wall.

Similar revenge attacks have reportedly occurred in Memphis, Tenn.; Norfolk, Va.; and Sanford, Fla.

President Obama’s election brought hope that he would bring Americans of all colors together.

While Obama’s comments might hearten blacks who feel discriminated against, is anyone surprised that polls show race relations have been getting worse since his election?

President Obama would probably have more credibility on race issues with America as a whole if he criticized crimes against whites or Hispanics in the same terms as he uses when discussing attacks on blacks. Would it really hurt the president to speak out against all forms of racism? It’s what we were promised. A little balance would help bring Americans together.

This is the part that some of you never get.

You could set up 1,000 mobile units for the purpose of distributing picture ID's, but if the people who need a picture ID don't have the documentation needed to qualify for it, they are left twisting in the wind.

How do you know they are legal citizens if they have absolutely nothing to certify they are who and what they say they are. It is a minuscule number. There is no guarantee of fairness in any country in the world including the U.S.

C'mon... at least make an intelligent rebuttal. What is the difference between Miley's gyrating hips and Elvis's? Ohhh... I know. It's a woman. She just hasn't screwed half of Hollywood yet.

I don’t know if he was a contributor to the decline but dayyam check out his die hard fans. If they only had the “pants on the ground” look they would be one with some of the fans of current pop icons."

Why does it seem like the overwhelming majority of the "miniscule" number of voting fraud are dems.Remember the vote early and vote often. How about all the dead people voting.A valid i d is not burdensome people need a little skin in the game.My dad is 85 years old and he didn't mind at all to prove who he said he was at the polls.A legal registered voter shouldn't be bothered at all.

History tells us that Jim Crow laws, segregation, and voter suppression were instituted by liberal democrats who ran the south after the civil war.For the last 100 years the progressives have slowly chipped away at our freedoms and liberty in the name of social justice.Barry and his gang of race hustlers want to suppress black achievement to keep them on the plantation for the votes. The new welfare system or social justice or whatever, is going to be the downfall of our republic, just like the Roman empire.

"I want to make clear that the options that we are considering are not about regime change," White House spokesman Jay Carney said Tuesday. Translation: We're not coming for you, Bashar, so don't worry. And by the way, you might want to fly those attack choppers off base, at least until next week.

The entire fiasco will be for show only. This president truly sucks

To legally vote one must be a citizen. The only government-issued photo ID that actually proves citizenship is a passport or naturalization certificate.

Anyone serious about ensuring voter eligibility (by something additional to a normal voter registration card), would require actual proof of a right to vote. Instead, they only require a drivers license or similar that doesn't prove anything relevant to a right to vote. But obtaining the latter provides just enough difficulty for just enough people to exclude large numbers that are statistically likely to vote the 'wrong' way. There is no other possible reason for this bull, and everyone knows it.

The Voting Rights Act is still necessary. Its revocation would result in a re-emergence of the same voting right abuses that made it necessary in the first place. Which is of course exactly why some are pressing for it. One of the pre-VRA 'test' questions for voting qualifcation, not far from where I'm sitting, was: "How high is high?". The correctness of the respondents' answers was only based upon their skin color.

It seems to me that we have already gone beyond equal rights for all. Now if the self declared victims would just figure out what to do with what they have and let go of the victim mindset we could move on.

"As in a Christian world where all shared the same belief, anyone, regardless of his worldly status or position, could regard himself as connected with his neighbor and reconciled with him through the transcendent God, and, furthermore he might not even envy him because to do so would reflect on God's wisdom; so the agnostic twentieth-century intellectual seeks a new god, promising the same protection as the Christian God’s against the next man's envy (often only suspected) and the same freedom from the consuming sense of guilt engendered by his personal superiority. This substitute god is progressivist ideology or, more precisely, the utopia of a perfectly egalitarian society. It may never come true, but a mere mental pose of being in its favour helps to bear the guilt of being unequal." ~ Helmut Schoeck in "Envy: A Theory of Social Behaviour"
