GADSDEN, Ala. — Authorities say a Northeast Alabama man died in a house fire, but only after helping his wife escape
Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin said a fire broke out early Saturday at a home in Gadsden.
A man identified as 53-year-old Brian Steven Geary helped his wife get out, but he wasn’t able to escape and died.
The man’s wife was hospitalized, but authorities didn’t immediately release her name.
Investigators are looking for a possible cause of the fire, but the sheriff said foul play is not suspected.
