D.L. Hughley made his bones on the comedy circuit before breaking into TV and movies. His first television forays were as the original host of BET’s “Comic View” and later as the star of UPN’s “The Hughleys.” On the big screen, he was one of the four featured acts in the stand-up film “The Original Kings of Comedy.”
He’s also done several comedy specials, written a book or two and even articles for The Huffington Post and The New York Times, detailing his thoughts on the Trayvon Martin case.
In 2012, he filmed a mockumentary called “D.L. Hughley: The Endangered List” for Comedy Central that features him traveling the country trying to put the black man on the endangered species list.
It shouldn’t surprise anyone then that he now has his own syndicated radio show, heard locally Monday through Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. on WMPZ-FM 93.7. And he is the co-host of the “Trust Me I’m a Game Show Host” on TBS. In it, he and Michael Ian Black try to deceive contestants, who must figure out which of the two is telling the truth. It airs Tuesdays at 10:30 p.m.
Hughley’s resume is eclectic, obviously. He’s also been a correspondent for “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” and host of CNN’s “D.L. Hughley Breaks the News.”
This weekend, however, Hughley will return to his stand-up roots for five shows over three nights at The Comedy Catch.
