Hamilton County Election Commission urges residents to register to vote

The Hamilton County Election Commission is urging citizens to register to vote today, designated as National Voter Registration Day.

"National Voter Registration Day is a great time to make sure that your registration is up to date or to register for the first time" Hamilton Administrator of Elections Charlotte Mullis-Morgan said in a news release.

The day is the high point of National Voter Registration Month, a time when state and county election officials have been working to encourage voter participation and increase awareness of state requirements and deadlines for voting, the news release stated.

The Election Commission office off Amnicola Highway will be open until 6 p.m. Tuesday to assist those who need to register or update their records.
