ROUTE 151 AT RINGGOLD
The Georgia Department of Transportation reports that ice is creating problems on State Route 151 near the intersection with Interstate 75 in Ringgold, Ga.
The ice is not affecting I-75 traffic, but one of two eastbound lanes on Highway 151 is blocked.
GDOT dispatchers report that roads conditions farther south toward Atlanta are becoming slushy.
Georgia Highway Patrol officials say there are no accidents associated with the traffic snarl.
Signal Mountain Police said that road crews were salting parts of Taft Highway this morning to get rid of some icy patches.
That was in addition to Roberts Mill and the W roads being closed and Shoal Creek Road undergoing icy conditions, police said.
So far there have been no reports on adverse road conditions in neighborhoods though a police dispatcher agreed they are encouraging people to stay off the roads.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol says multiple accidents involving multiple vehicles have blocked the left lane of westbound Interstate 24 in Marion County.
The accidents near mile marker 166 were reported around 7:50 a.m. CST and are expected to be cleared by 9:50 a.m. CST.
Dispatchers at the state patrol office in Tiftonia said injuries were reported but were unable to say how many or how severe they were.
Troopers and emergency personnel are on the scene, according to dispatchers.
