Because boating is a family activity, officials with the Chattanooga Boat & Sport Show are keeping all ages and interests in mind for the four-day expo that opens today, Jan. 30, at the Chattanooga Convention Center.
"The Chattanooga Boat Show features all makes and models of the newest boats, including power boats, fishing boats, ski boats, personal watercraft, pontoon boats and cruisers," reports marinesource.com. "Exhibitors and vendors will be offering boating products and boating accessories plus activities for everyone."
Among the highlighted activities in the 10,000-square-foot exhibit hall is the chance to try out the Rock N Roll N Ballz, an inflatable sometimes referred to as a human hamster ball. Children can climb inside the rolling inflatables, which float in a large tank, to see how long they can stay on their feet while the Ballz bob on the water's surface.
There's also a tank where kids can go trout fishing. On Saturday, Feb. 1, kids 12 and younger will receive a free rod-and-reel, while supplies last; doors open at 10 a.m.
Presented by BK Productions, the city's largest boating event of the year also will showcase the latest technology to hit the water.
One example is the Sea Ray 230 SLX, a sport boat with optional Dynamic Running Surface, an innovation said to automatically optimize boat performance and wake shape. Officials with Erwin Marine Sales in Chattanooga call it "the future of sport boat performance."
