Ambulance Chasers

about Clay Bennett...

The son of a career army officer, Bennett led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1980 from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Art and History. After brief stints as a staff artist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Fayetteville (NC) Times, he went on to serve as the editorial cartoonist for the St. Petersburg Times (1981-1994) and The Christian Science Monitor (1997-2007), before joining the staff of the ...

Sooner or later, the voters are going to figure out that the GOP has nothing on anyone connected with the Obama Administration and that all of this has been witch hunts that most definitely rival those held in Salem so many years ago.

If the American people voted for those who filled the Houses of Congress, as we do for President, Most of the trouble makers would be gone.

Then you'd see some work getting done.

But alas, that will never happen and reality is setting back in.

Add up all the costs of Isa's and other house hearings, travel of witnesses, attorney fees,, lost time on productive activities, 40 or so votes on ACA repeal, etc and we probably could afford the immigration reform bill the President requests. The economic costs of these witch hunts are simply the result of outrageous, totally reckless and foolish machinations of impaired minds. It's pure, mean-spirited folly.

Yeah, it's a real witch hunt. The IRS deserves all of our sympathy. Lerner is a witch, though.

Democrats had the WH, Senate and House for two years. Even as pathetic as the GOP is, damn good thing Democrats no longer have the house.

"mean spirited folly" LOL what projection! Liberalism is disease.

The backlash against Dems and BO regarding this orchestrated dumping of illegal alien invaders is growing. You libs should be concerned with that.

Washington (CNN) -- The Internal Revenue Service targeted liberal groups as well as conservatives seeking tax-exempt status, a Democratic congressman charged on Monday after the agency acknowledged the inappropriate practice continued until last month. Rep. Sander Levin said the term "progressives" was included on IRS screening lists of applicants for tax-exempt status made available to Congress.

Does anyone wonder or know why Lerner refused to answer questions and plead the 5th to avoid incriminating herself? Anyone wonder why Holder rather be found in contempt than to provide requested information? I wonder why well paid IRS employees all received a nice bonus even if they owed delinquent income tax? Anyone wonder why the pay and benefits for government jobs are much higher than paid those in the private sector for like or similar work? Wonder why the only U.S. Lamborghini dealership is in Washington D.C.? It does a booming business along with Rolls Royce and other luxury cars in D.C.

Give it up Wally. Progressives/liberals/lefties have had their run of place since BO was elected. In fact, D.C. is dominated by libs and lefties in the bureaucracy, and has been forever. Sander Levin LOL..That's a reliable and unbiased source.

Voters don't care about this, or any other distractions you libs throw at them. They care about their financial situation, intrusion into their private lives and the border mess.

I personally don't think any organization whether conservative or liberal should have exemptions and a broad based cleaning up of the tax codes should include them. Why are churches and religious organizations exempt? Is that consistent with separation of church and state or not favoring any religion?

J. Russell George, Inspector General (appointed by GWB) and his office have faced criticism after a spokesman for the inspector general said they were only tasked with looking into whether conservative groups faced tough IRS scrutiny. Documents released this week showed other groups — including liberal and nonpartisan organizations — also received scrutiny from the IRS, and Democrats have suggested this wasn't noted when the so-called scandal broke because of the IG's focus on conservative groups.

July 19, 2014 at 2:02 p.m.

wally, it doesn't matter who was in charge, and who appointed them. It's wrong no matter what. No one should be targeted whether they're conservative, liberal or whatever. It isn't a "so-called scandal", it is a scandal, period. It's criminal. If Republicans used the IRS to target liberal groups then they should be punished as well. Bring it all out into the open. This is abuse of power.

“I wish there was more GOP interest when the same issue arose during the Bush administration, where they audited a progressive church in my district in what look liked a very selective way,” California Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff said on MSNBC Monday. “I found only one Republican, [North Carolina Rep. Walter Jones], that would join me in calling for an investigation during the Bush administration. I’m glad now that the GOP has found interest in this issue and it ought to be a bipartisan concern.” The well-known church, All Saints Episcopal in Pasadena, became a bit of a cause célèbre on the left after the IRS threatened to revoke the church’s tax-exempt status over an anti-Iraq War sermon the Sunday before the 2004 election. “Jesus [would say], ‘Mr. President, your doctrine of preemptive war is a failed doctrine,’” rector George Regas said from the dais. Under George W. Bush, the IRS also went after the NAACP and Greenpeace. Where was your concern then?

However they didn't instead they swallowed every lie those scumbags told hook , line, and sinker. They allowed the lies to progress . It wasn't until the realization hit from the FOREIGN press that the so-called liberal media in the U.S. realized they had been bamboozled but by then it was too late. Bush and Cheney had the war they wanted.

Every single time you try to re- write history to fit your dumba$$ ignorant agenda you make a complete fool of yourself. The propaganda you spew is just plain bullsh! T. Sadly it's not just you that think you can get away with trying to re- write history but there are others just like you who think the same way. It might have worked before but there are over 4000 dead soldiers and thousands of dead civilians who cry out from their graves so that you and your kind don't get to re-write history or put your sick spin on it .

The press and media in this country are just drones for BO and you lefties. You sound like every other lib on here, and every other lib in the media. You're nothing new. Same old crap.

The UN, a bunch of countries, the majority in the Senate and House, Senators Kerry and Clinton all backed Bush on Iraq. They're all responsible for Iraq. One hand you stupid lefties claim Bush is dumb, but on the other hand you're saying he's so clever and smart that he fooled the UN, the House, the Senate, a bunch of other countries, Kerry , and the "smartest woman in the world" Hillary Clinton? Intelligence from multiple countries came to the same conclusion. If you say Bush blew it, then you have to blame all of those involved.

I believe Iraq was a huge mistake because freedom and democracy can't mix with extremist Islam, which dominates that region.

The fact is the media was extremely hostile toward Bush from day one. If they had anything at that they cold "nail him" on, it would be ludicrous to believe that they wouldn't have used it. In contrast, BO owns the press and the media. They kiss his ass.

Causing loss of life in the hundreds of thousand range, likely millions, and also caused the surge of refugees fleeing violence around the world, even south of the border. All because of one incompetent boo boo head. And the zabblers of the right wingnut crowd are still trying to deflect attention away from that reality. The mess Bush and his minions caused will be felt for decades, maybe a century to come, even. Bush's own pappy tried to warn him. Z. fister bush was a dumba$$ because he allowed himself to be used by Cheney and the rest of the Neo Cons in order to out do his Poppy. Well, he out did him alright he damn near destroyed this country in the process. As for your dumba$$ comment about who voted for the war and who voted against it. All of that HAS to be taken into HISTORICAL context. The United States had just experienced the worst attack on American soil since Pearl Harbor. People all over this country were scared sh!tless. They didn't know if there were more attacks like that one planned by extremist outside groups or what. You see terrorists like Timothy McVeigh are homegrown, people can deal emotionally with those kind of terrorist acts because usually the ones committing those acts look like they belong.

It's why the United States could lock up thousands of Japanese Americans in internment camps following the attack on Pearl Harbor. There was no evidence any of those locked up were planning any attacks in the United States but you see the Japanese Americans didn't look like they "belonged." Come forward 60 years later and there has been an attack on our soil using commercial jets, not military planes but commercial jets. Then along come the Neo Cons, they've managed to put an imbecile in the White House. They know the American people are in a panic , they also know who is responsible for the attack. Bin Laden could have been taken out at Bora Bora. He was cornered and all it would have taken would have been to send a team to take him out, but to do so would remove the "boogie man" they needed for a reason to invade Iraq and capture ,not Saddam Hussein but the world's second largest oil field. They were hell bent and determined to do so and anyone who got in their way would be crushed. If it meant labeling those that questioned them as traitors or Bin Laden sympathsizers like they did Max Clelland of Georgia or outing a CIA agent, it didn't matter. They were ruthless in their determination to invade Iraq and get that oil BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY and the American people went along with it because they had been scared sh!tless by the attack on this country.

. You and your kind would love to create another atmosphere of suspicion and fear but President Obama's elections have prevented you from doing that . So people like you and some others come on forums like this pretending to speak for the "little people." Fortunately, the majority of this country has not been willing to travel that same path again and there's nothing you can do about it. So, since you and your kind haven't been able to portray President Obama as someone who doesn't belong you use the only tool you have left in your bag: BLAME OBAMA. It doesn't matter what has happened or where somehow Obama is to blame. It's sick but it's all you got left and that's what makes anything you write or say irrelevant.
