NormalPalooza 'fun'-raises for magnet school

What: More than 2,700 people attended NormalPalooza on Nov. 8, the annual music and arts street festival held on the campus of Normal Park Museum Magnet School and on Mississippi Avenue. The school festival included 45 regional artists showing and selling, 15 food vendors, children's activities, art demonstrations and entertainment by students, local bands and dancers throughout the afternoon.

Benefits: Raised more than $35,000 for the school's Parent-Teacher Association, which will help fund PTA projects.


Boo Bash boosts Hosanna community

What: Boo Bash was the theme for this year's Hosanna community Harvest of Hope fundraiser, which was held in Stratton Hall. Nearly 150 guests were entertained by the Tee Bumpass Band, bid in a silent auction and served food catered by Cafe on the Corner.

Benefits: Proceeds from the party help fund scholarships for residents of Hosanna community, two homes for adults with disabilities that foster independence.
