Tractor trailer crash blocks Interstate 24 east

Interstate 24 eastbound has been shut down near mile marker 162 due to a tractor trailer crash, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Officials confirm that the tractor trailer driver, Jimmy Dodd, was killed in the accident. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

The eastbound portion of the Interstate is currently backed up about 10 miles, according to dispatch.

THP has almost finished the immediate clean-up and plans to reopen the Interstate soon. They plan to close the eastbound lanes of the Interstate again tonight in order to finish the clean-up.

HAZMAT was on scene, a dispatcher said.
