Signal Mountain running back Skye Wilson is through for the year after learning Monday that he has a torn ACL, a torn MCL and torn meniscus in his left knee.

"It's not good," Eagles coach Bill Price said. "He'll have surgery on Wednesday and then have a second surgery two months later. He could be back by the start of next season. It just depends on how hard he's willing to work to get back."

Wilson, a sophomore, was injured in the first quarter of Signal's District 7-AA loss to Notre Dame last Friday. Entering that game he had rushed for 655 yards and 13 touchdowns. He had averaged 9.5 yards per carry and 109.2 yards per game. He also had four catches for 178 yards and three other scores.

MaxPreps tabs Ison

Last Thursday before Ooltewah hosted Cleveland in the final District 5-AAA regular-season match for both teams, Ooltewah's Courtlyn Ison was presented a plaque acknowledging her selection as Tennessee's MaxPreps and American Volleyball Coaches Association's player of the week for the week ending Sept. 15.

"They asked me to step forward and I had no clue what it was about," said Ison, who will play at Belmont University next season. "The award made me cry. In my senior year to get this honor, it's a great way for me to head into the postseason tournaments."

The Lady Owls defeated district opponents Bradley Central and East Hamilton during the week she was honored, then capped it with a strong showing in the Tennessee Tandem tournament, where they finished runners-up in the Gold division to Division II-AA Briarcrest. In 24 sets that week, Ison totaled 89 kills, 12 block solos, five blocks assists, 45 digs and 19 aces.
