An enhanced version of The Secret Sisters' latest album has been available since early August at Cracker Barrel Old Country Stores.
For an hour Friday afternoon, Oct. 10, the duo will be in the Chattanooga area to greet fans and sign copies of the critically acclaimed "Put Your Needle Down: Deluxe Edition."
The stop at the Tiftonia Cracker Barrel is a slight detour on a tour that brings Laura and Lydia Rogers to Rhythm & Brews for a show later that night. Caney Village and Jacob Tovar will open.
Produced by T Bone Burnett, the original version of "Put Your Needle Down" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Album Chart and No. 3 on the Billboard Folk Album Chart when it was released in April.
Rolling Stone praised the Florence, Ala., natives for their "ethereal harmonies" on the album. NPR likened them to "Mad Men" ("flawlessly retro") Bettie Page ("lively and bold") and The Everly Brothers ("their voices ring in impeccable harmonies").
The Rogerses wrote or co-wrote all but three of the 12 tracks on the original album, a gumbo of country, Americana, blues, folk and gospel.
"It was a crazy mix of song and story styles," says Laura Rogers. "T Bone found the thread that connected all of them. He helped us piece it all together in a really beautiful way, and it feels like a complete vision."
Other contributions came from legends Bob Dylan and Boudleaux Bryant and contemporary artists Brandi Carlile and PJ Harvey, among others.
The deluxe edition contains two new tracks exclusive to Cracker Barrel.
