Early Wednesday morning a woman wanted by Cleveland, Tenn., police staged a fake hostage situation, according to a news release from the Cleveland Police Department.

The incident happened in a residence at 1202 Wildwood Lake Road.

Just after 3:20 a.m., police arrived at the home to serve arrest warrants for 31-year-old Megan Haire, but no contact was made with her at that time, the release said.

About a half hour later, the 911 center received a call from a female inside the home claiming to be the victim in a hostage situation. SWAT and hostage negotiators were sent, but authorities later confirmed the wanted woman had made a hoax call, according to the release.

Officer Evie West, public information officer for the Cleveland Police Department, said in an email that after speaking with the district attorney's office, Cleveland police decided not to charge Haire in connection with the false hostage situation report.

Police initially went to arrest Haire on two warrants relating to her failure to appear in court, officials at the Bradley County Sheriff's office said.

Since the incident, she has been taken to the Bradley County Justice Center and is being held without bond.
