To celebrate the 38th National Girls and Women Sports Day, Academy Sports + Outdoors recently donated $6,000 to Chattanooga Football Club Women as the official partner of the Female-Student Athlete Highlight.

As part of this recognition program, coaches and teachers nominate female student-athletes who demonstrate academic and sports achievements as well as leadership qualities both on and off the field, according to a news release. The honorees then are surprised by a gift, a Chattanooga FC Women player appearance at their school, and they will be highlighted on Chattanooga FC Women's website and social media channels.

Academy's donation will be used to recognize these female student-athletes to help to encourage continued participation in sports.
