Deal manager for Cracker Barrel

David Deal was named general manager of the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store in Ooltewah. Deal has been with the company since August 2008, most recently as part of the management team in Athens, Tenn. Before joining Cracker Barrel, he had over 10 years experience in the restaurant industry.

As manager of the Ooltewah Cracker Barrel location, Deal will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day business of the unit at I-75 and Old Lee Highway.


Northgate shows McCallie art

Northgate Mall is featuring artwork from the McCallie School this month on the Northgate Mall Art Wall.

Steve Banks, general manager at Northgate, said the display "is a great opportunity to partner with the community" by showing the McCallie art on the wall along the main mall entry near Belk. A different school will be featured each month.

Suzanne Mortimer, art department chair at McCallie, said she is always looking for way to showcase students' artwork.

"Having a display at the Northgate Mall is a wonderful way for art teachers throughout the county to bring student work out of the classroom and into the community," she said.


Hood wins award at Life Care Centers

Life Care Centers of America has presented its Danette Henry Servant Leader Award to Mark Hood, vice president of clinical systems.

The award was given during the company's annual Christmas party and recognizes an associate at the corporate offices in Cleveland for outstanding customer service to Life Care's more than 220 facilities nationwide.

"Mark Hood is one of those special people who has dedicated his life to serving others with professional skills and compassion," said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president.

The Danette Henry Servant Leader Award, originally the Corporate Support Award, was renamed to honor the legacy of Danette Henry, Life Care's director of payroll who passed away in early 2008. Henry was a two-time winner of the Corporate Support Award.
