Police are investigating two shootings that happened at the same time Tuesday night in different parts of Chattanooga -- one on Homer Street and one on South Kelly Street.

Both shootings happened at about 7:35 p.m. Dieshunn Lindsey, 29, told police he was waiting for a friend on South Kelly Street when he was shot by someone in a white sedan.

He heard gunshots coming from the vehicle but was unable to give police any suspect information. Officers have not arrested a suspect.

Police also responded to a shots-fired call at 400 Homer St., about five miles north of South Kelly.

A witness, who asked not to be identified for safety reasons, reported seeing a Chrysler PT Cruiser on Homer Street and then hearing 10 to 15 shots, perhaps from a semi-automatic weapon.

About 90 minutes later, Chattanooga police officers discovered a shot-up PT Cruiser in front of a bar at 2555 Harrison Pike, about a half-mile from the shooting site on Homer Street.

There were several bullet holes in the windshield and in both sides of the car, according to an affidavit.

Officers detained a man and a woman who were standing in front of the car.

The man, 38-year-old David Burnette, was arrested after officers found marijuana and methamphetamine in his pockets. He was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and was still in the Hamilton County Jail on Wednesday.

The woman was not arrested.

Police did not find any weapons in the vehicle, and investigators do not believe the two shootings are connected.
