Bill Falinski

Dr. Boleslaus Alan "Bill" Falinski, 56, of Chattanooga died Friday, May 3, 2013 at his home.Dr. Falinski served as an anesthesiologist in Chattanooga for 20 years with Anesthesiologists Associated. A native of the Cleveland, Oh. suburb of Broadview Heights, Dr. Falinski received his bachelors degree from Case Western Reserve University and medical degree from Loyola University of Chicago. His residency was at Emory University School of Medicine.In addition to working in Chattanooga, Dr. Falinski joined medical missions with Common Hope and the International Humanitarian Surgical Team for impoverished children and families. Along with several trips to Guatemala, he also was a member of volunteer surgical teams in Nicaragua and the Philippines.Dr. Falinski was an avid gardener and chef. He loved nature, travel, conversation, humor, wine and crossword puzzles. He enjoyed hiking, whitewater paddling and golf. Friends and family recently discovered that he was not only a voracious reader, but also a gifted writer, as depicted in his thoughtful posts on CaringBridge. He was devoted to his pets: dog Pumpkin and cats Leo and Mayo.He was preceded in death by his parents, Agnes and Aloysius Falinski, and brother, Leonard Falinski.Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Alison Sherrer Falinski; sisters, Philomene Swenson, of Oak Run, Calif., Jeanine Briones, of Estero, Fla., and Mary Kalish, of Independence, Oh.; brothers, Giles Falinski, of Parma Heights, Oh. and Regis Falinski, of Jasper, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 6, at St. Jude Catholic Church in Chattanooga with Father Charles Burton officiating.The family will gather with friends today from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
