Dolores Masengil

Dolores Price Masengil, 83, passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at her residence. She was a native of Lookout Mountain, a lifetime resident of Englewood, and a daughter of the late Arle Franklin and Carrie Mae Ball Price. Delores was a member of Wilson Station Presbyterian Church and Order of Eastern Star of Englewood, Tenn. She was a very devoted wife and mother and loved her grandchildren dearly. She loved cooking, gardening, farming, and especially her chickens. She also enjoyed canning all of her vegetables and sharing with everyone. Dolores served as Englewoods librarian for 21 years and enjoyed working with the children encouraging their interest in reading. She was a very active member of her church, teaching, Sunday school for many years, and she loved singing in the choir. She also held many positions in the Eastern Star including Worthy Matron. The family wishes to give a special thanks to the staff of Amedysis Hospice for the compassionate care. She was preceded in death by her parents, listed above; two brothers, J.B. Price and Hugh Price; sister, Christine Wilson; and daughter-in-law, Lucile Rogers Masengil. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, William Ira "Bill" Masengil, of Englewood; son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Marsha Masengil, of Englewood; daughters and sons-in-law, Regenia Masengil Richeson and Chris, of Englewood, and Annette Masengil McJunkin and Ken, of Athens; grandchildren, Brandon, Adam, and Kevin Masengil, Kelsie and Callie Richeson, all of Englewood, and Kennedy and Connor McJunkin, both of Athens; brothers, Kenneth Price, of Cleveland and Ray Price, of Athens; sisters, Irene Coburn, of Murfreesboro, Reba McGinnis, of Knoxville, Fay Wampler, of Missouri, Frances Johns, of Spencer and Ouida Middleton, of Englewood. Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Craig Farrell and Brother Bill McGinnis officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at Cochran Cemetery for the committal service. Brandon Masengil, Adam Masengil, Kevin Masengil, Connor McJunkin, Ken McJunkin, and Chris Richeson will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial to be made to Wilson Station Presbyterian Church, 1352 Wilson Station Road, Englewood, TN 37329.
