Hildred Levi

Hildred Hicks Levi, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2014, at Rosewood Assisted Living in Fort Oglethorpe. A native of Chattanooga, Mrs. Levi was a resident of Ringgold, a graduate of the University of Chattanooga, and a retired Catoosa County (Boynton Elementary) Educator. She was a life long member of The Disciples of Christ Church, with membership in First Christian Church, Chattanooga. Mrs. Levi served for many years as a Hutcheson Hospital Auxilian and had held Membership in Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers' Sorotiry. She had been active in the Catoosa Retired Educators' Association as well as the Georgia Retired Educators' Association. She was a member of The First Families of Tennessee. Mrs. Levi was the daughter of the late Arthur A. Hicks and Belle Arnold Hicks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred E. Levi and by her brother Doyle E. Hicks. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Hildred "Bitse" and Erick Griggs; her granddaughter and her husband, Hildred "Missy" and Donald McKenna; and her great-grandson, Brooks McKenna. Mrs. Levi's family wishes to acknowledge the kind and compassionate staff of Rosewood Assisted Living. A special thank you to her faithful caregivers: Nancy Lenoir, Sherry Keith and Rebecca Hancock and to Life Choice Hospice. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, May 5, at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway. Graveside services will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 5, with Dr. Phil Summerlin and the Rev. Paul Rebelo officiating.
