Barbara Powell

Barbara Kelley Powell, a life long resident of Red Bank passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010. She is the wife of retired LTC Herbert U. Powell. Barbara was a lifelong resident of Red Bank and graduated from Red Bank High School in 1948. She played basketball and was all conference guard in 1947. Red Bank was the state champions in 1948.Barbara traveled and lived around the world in Europe and the Far East. She was very outgoing and had many friends worldwide. Barbara was kind and generous to everyone. She was a loving, caring and wonderful wife for 56 years. She was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church. Barbara was Emeritus Member Columbus Order of Eastern Star Chapter #261.She was the only child of the late Alvin L. and Minerva P. Kelley.Survivors other than her husband are several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 4 until 7 p.m. today at Lane Funeral Home Ashland Terrace and from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lane Funeral Home Ashland Terrace.Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Bill Harvey officiating.
