ATHENS Vesta Marie Knox Galyon, 79, returned to our loving Father in Heaven, Friday, April 29, 2011.A native of McMinn County, she was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Ernest Boyd Galyon; her parents, John Sam and Carrie Lee Knox; sister, Kathryn Hinde, of Nevada; brothers, Carroll Jr. Knox, Jay Knox, Willard Knox of Texas; and infant brothers, Charles and Jeffery Knox.Survived by three sons and daughter-in-law, Allen and Gail Galyon, Scott Galyon and Ronny Galyon, all of Athens; three daughters and son-in-law, Donna Barnes, Heather and Bryan Lamb, all of Athens, and Sherry and Joe Hixson, of Georgia; sister, Irene Barnett Slack; sister-in-law, Gloria Knox; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews all who loved her dearly; one dear and longtime friend, Janet Littleton. She was the most precious mother and grandmother.Funeral service will be held 7 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2011, in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Minister Darin Long officiating.The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m., prior to the service.
