Betty Angle

Betty McGhee Angle, 84, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully at her apartment on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011.She was the daughter of the late James McGhee and Kathryn H. McGhee Bobbitt of Roanoke, Va. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Woodrow W. "Woodie" Angle; and son, Robert Michael "Bobby" Angle.Betty is survived her children, Jimmy (Linda) Angle, of Suwanee, Ga., Suzie (Mitch) Weber, of Soddy-Daisy, Sonny (Robin) Angle, of Herndon, Va., Becky (Johnnie) Wages, of Lawrenceville, Ga. Mary (Greg) Harris, of Norfolk, Va. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Alice (Reg) Hutcherson, of Roanoke, Va.; a host of nieces and nephews; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.Betty was born and raised in Roanoke, Va., where she graduated from Jefferson High School in 1945. She loved to play the alto saxophone and participated in the orchestra and marching band. In 1950, she married the love of her life, Woodie Angle, and they brought six beautiful children into this world. Betty relocated to Chattanooga, in June 2005 after spending 30 years in the Atlanta, area.A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at Soddy United Methodist Church, 255 Depot St., Soddy-Daisy TN 37379, where Betty was a member. The Rev. Kenneth Scoggins will officiate. Bettys final resting place will be in Roanoke, Va., alongside her husband and son.The family would like to thank the staff and residents of The Terrace at Mountain Creek Road in Chattanooga for the love, care, and concern over the last six years of her life here in Chattanooga, especially the last week of Bettys earthly life.
