Carolyn Taylor

Carolyn Faye Taylor, 61, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, in a local hospital facility.Carolyn, one of 14 children, was born May 1, 1951 in Town Creek, Ala.. She was born to Percy Sr. and Birtella BoldenSmith.Carolyn was a homemaker and a caretaker who will be remembered as a compassionate, fun loving woman with a laugh and smile that would brighten any day. She loved flea markets, bargain shopping, gospel music and a batch of "good bitter" turnip greens. However, there was nothing closer to her heart than God, family and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, Percy Smith Sr. and Birtella Bolden-Smith; granddaughter Alexis Taylor; sister, Katherine Ann Smith; brothers, Bob Pickett, James Bolden, Lionell Smith, Johnny Bolden, Emmitt Ray Smith, Walter Lee Malone; and Percy Jr. Smith, nephews; Nicholas Smith, Charles Smith, Frederick Gray, Lamart Bolden and a niece, Demetria C. Smith.Carolyn leaves to cherish her memories her soul mate and husband for over 46 years Floyd T. Taylor; three sons, William A. Taylor (Linetra), Daquiri Taylor, and Cardiss Taylor; stepdaughter Waytana Taylor; two sisters, Rubye Jackson and Sandra Thomas (Bo); three brothers, R.T. Bolden (Arletra), William B. Smith and Joe L. Smith (Elizabeth); and sister-in-law, Thelma Bolden. Carolyn was the grandmother of nine: Candice, Dillan, Jacquez, Jordan, Natalia, Quinnetra, Shacara, Taynesha and Trescha and great-grandmother of Destiny. Carolyn was adored by her Goddaughters/nieces, Jessica Gray, Phyllis Smith, Jamesetta Gray and Eugenia Jackson; Godsons/nephews, James Gray (Donna),Jeffery Gray (Valorie) and Joseph Gray; and heart sisters, Karen Whittaker, Pauline Jones Hines, Judy Johnson, Elizabeth M. Thornton, Martha Shabazz and RoMary Anderson. In addition, Carolyn has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends who will always cherish the time that they were blessed to spend with her.Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012 in the chapel with Pastor Kenneth Scaife officiating.Interment in National Cemetery.The body will lie in state after noon today at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
