TownsendEarnestine Wheelous-Townsend, 64, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at a local hospital.She was born Nov. 7, 1948 to the late John and Lillian Wheelous Sr. She was a faithful member of St. Mary CME Church.She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jerry Heard.She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted daughter, LaTonia (Howard) Simmons; one grandson, David Townsend; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Annette Hendrick, Erleen (Howard) Johnson, both of Chattanooga; Peggy Daniel, Atlanta, Lillian (Tony) Sims, Knoxville, Tenn.; brothers, John Wheelous Jr., Kenneth Wheelous, both of Chattanooga.Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, April 26, 2013 at Phillips Temple CME Church with Rev. Archie Griffin officiating.Interment in Highland Cemetery.The body will lie in state after noon today at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
