George Floyd

George Washington Floyd, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013. He was 83 years old.George was born in Jasper and has been a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area. George worked with TVA and retired from the maintenance department for Baylor School.He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Cline Floyd; his children, Shirley Jean Floyd Babbs, Jimmy S. McGowan and Annette DeVito.George is survived by his daughter, Vicki Mercer and husband, Brooks, of Hixson; sons, E. John Floyd and Danny "Lefty" Floyd, both of Chattanooga and Joseph N. Floyd, of Fort Oglethorpe; 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 11 to 1 p.m. on Friday at the North Chapel.Services for George will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at the North Chapel with Richard Floyd conducting the service.
