Bob Garner, Jr.

Robert Lee "Bob" Garner, Jr., 78, of Chattanooga died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013. He was born Sept. 25, 1935 in Walker County, Ga., son of the late Robert L. Garner, Sr. and the late Susie Belle Hawkins Garner. He was preceded in death by a sister Dorothy Barnes. Mr. Garner was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. He served in the United States Air Force and was a graduate of Kirkman High School and of Tennessee Tech. He retired from Gillman, Jones, Blair as Credit Manager. Survivors include his wife of 54 years Grace Garner; children Melinda Clark and Robert LeBron Garner; grandchildren Lydia Clark and Linda Simmons; great grandson Spencer Simmons; brothers Paul R. Garner and Jackie Garner. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 31, at 4 p.m. from Christ United Methodist Church 8645 E. Brainerd Rd, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37421 with Reverend David Hall officiating. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. CST Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014 at Duggan Smith Cemetery in the Ivyton Community in Overton County Tennessee.
