Dallas Smith

Dallas Smith, 65, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at Rhea Medical Center. Dallas was a lifetime resident of Rhea County, attended Morgan Springs Baptist Church, worked for TVA for 20 years and Combustion in Chattanooga for 13 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Purser and Anna Thomas Smith; mother and father-in-law, Adita and Harvey Taylor; a brother, George Smith; a sister, Shirley Smith. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Frances I. Smith, of Dayton; three children, Mike Smith, Gregg and Tiffany Smith, of Dayton, Tanya (Stephen) Newland, of San Juan, Puerto Rico; three sisters, Maxine Cole, of Oklahoma City, Okla., Nina (Tom) Blackford, of Cleveland, Ohio, Wilma Jean (Micheal) Richardson, of Milford, Del., James Smith, of Evensville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Rodman Smith, Kirsten Newland, Brooklyn Smith, Bailee Smith, Ian Newland, Sean Newland, Bristol Smith; several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home with the Rev. Jamie Smith and John Sharp officiating. Interment in Rhea Memory Gardens.
