Helen Bartley

Helen Chappin Bartley, 88, a former resident of North Georgia and the Chattanooga area, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013. She has been living for several years in Cape Coral, Fla. She was a charter member of Battlefield Parkway Church of the Nazarene. Retired from the American National Insurance Co. after 36 years of service where she was the companys first woman Insurance Agent. She also served as staff manager, district manager and was a member of the presidents club, Century Club and a graduate of the LUTC. Her area of responsibility was in North Georgia and Eastern Alabama. She was born in Fayetteville, Tenn., the daughter of the late Rev Arthur and Clara Pack Chappin. Her late husband, John Lee Bartley Jr. preceded her in death in 1986. She is survived by two daughters, Jeannetta (Rev. Duane) Houston, of Clarksville, Tenn.; Brenda (Bill) Rigel, of Pevely, Mo.; a son, Ed (Rachel) Bartley, of Ringgold, Ga.; a sister, Ann Chappin Malone, of Cape Coral, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Sandra (Ron) Smith, Lisa (Terry) Hartsock, Brad (Christy) Houston, Alfred (Robyn) English, Ron (Amy) English, Greta Bartley, Erin (Danny) Hesterly; and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with son-in-law, the Rev. Duane Houston and the Rev. Joe Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Ron Smith, Terry Hartsock, Brad Houston, Alfred English, Ron English and Danny Hesterly. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. Thursday.
