Franklin George "F. G." Longley, 87 years old, passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2013. He was born and raised in Apison and was the son of the late George and Elsie (Tallent) Longley. He was baptized at an early age in Poes Creek by Rev. C. H. Petty and was a member of Apison Baptist Church. From the age of 12 he worked the family farm. He also worked 37 years at the Electric Power Board. He was a member of the Ooltewah Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Eva Kirkland and Gladys Dotson.Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Davis Longley; daughters, Myra (Jerry) Burgess and Joy (David) Newby; grandsons, Joshua and Matthew Newby; brother, Earl Longley; sisters, Bettye Jean Kinsley, Martha Settle; and several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. today with the funeral service to follow in the East Brainerd Chapel at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Bob Dasal and the Rev. Leroy Spinks officiating.
