Joe Morgan

Jr.Joe Morgan Jr., 76, a resident of Birchwood, Tenn., passed away on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013 at a local healthcare facility. He was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church in Birchwood where he was a deacon and former Sunday School Superintendent. He retired from Roadway Express after 26 years of employment. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines where he served in the Pacific. Mr. Morgan loved to farm and work with his hands.He was preceded in death by his parents, George L. Morgan and Susie Jane Bidwell; and his sister, Leatha Callahan. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Judy Morgan, of Birchwood; four children, George Morgan and wife, Debbie, of Ooltewah, Darrel Morgan and wife, Linda, of Birchwood, Greg Morgan and wife, Sha'Ree, of Cleveland, and Angie Shelton and husband, Danny, of Birchwood; five grandchildren, Ashley Morgan, Taylor Morgan, Troy Morgan, Hunter Morgan and Sydney Morgan; two sisters, Lois Jones, of Ooltewah and Joyce Powell, of Soddy Daisy; one brother, Charles Moore, of Pisgah, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor James Hutchings officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
