Rev Alfred

Rev. Alfred E. Pierre passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at age 93. He was the son of the late Edgar Pierre and Ethel Christophe Pierre of Ama, Louisiana. He was a retired minister of the United Methodist Church, Holston Conference. Prior to his affiliation with the United Methodist Church, he served as senior pastor at Bethlehem Baptist and Union Hill Baptist churches. He also served as interim pastor at Second Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Rev. Ann Jones Pierre; his son, Sylvester (Eura) Pierre; stepsons, Antoine Williams and Alvin (Tammy) Williams; stepdaughter, Awayne Williams; brother, Irving (Evelyn) Pierre; sisters, Genevieve Buys, Agnes (Alvin) Brown, Eva Compton and Barbara (Barry) Pilson; and a devoted nephew, Rev. James (Carol) Cantrell; as well as 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; and other nieces, nephews, cousins.A life celebration will be held at noon on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Second Missionary Baptist Church, 2305 East Third St. where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon.Interment will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery.Reverend Pierre will lie in state from 1 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 24, 2013, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37404, 423-622-9955.
