Clyde Hemmings

Clyde H. Hemmings, beloved father and grandfather, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 1, 2013.Clyde was a faithful Christian who enjoyed helping others. He found great joy in his family and had a special love for Gladys, his deceased wife of 63 years.Clyde took great pride in his work and held many positions in the textile industry with Fruit of the Loom, Cannon Mills, and the Eagle & Phenix Mills. He had a true servant's heart for helping youth through his work as a Little League baseball coach and Pee Wee football coach and assisting the elderly through his work and volunteering with home delivered meals.Clyde resided in Harrison County for the past 18 years. He was born in Lee County, Ala.. and lived in Lanett, Ala.., Lagrange, Ga., Columbus, Ga., Jacksonville, Ala., Albemarle, N.C., Tenille, Ga., and Lexington, N.C.Preceding him in death were his wife, Gladys; his mother, Mozelle Evans Warren; his father, Henry Grady Hemmings Sr.; his stepfather, Dewey Warren; grandson, Willliam Ross Hemmings. Survivors are his sons, E. Lamar (Carolyn) Hemmings, of Columbus, Ga., Christopher (Sarah) Hemmings, of Hendersonville, N.C., and Jonathan L. Hemmings, of Columbus, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Lance, Marc, Scot, Rachel, Grace, Kathryn and Bob; five great-grandchildren, Hunter, Tanner, Addie, Allie and Brandon.The family will receive friends on Friday, July 5, 2013 from 3-5 p.m.. at the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home or you may visit the online guest book @ www.turnerfamilyfuneralhome.comPrivate interment will be announced at a later date.Arrangements are by Turner Funeral Home Inc., Highway58 Chapel 622-7171.
