David Blackwell

David Blackwell, 78, of Chattanooga, quietly departed this life on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at home with his family.He was born in Chattanooga, to the union of the Nathaniel and Daisy Wheeler Blackwell on Jan. 23, 1935.Mr. Blackwell was a graduate of Howard High School and retired employee of CARTA Bus Company of Chattanooga after 32 years of service.He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Nathaniel; brother, Johnny Lee; two sisters, Helen and Dorothy Blackwell.Mr. Blackwell is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Patricia Keith-Blackwell; four sons, David, Jr., Michael, Reginald and Patrick of Chattanooga; five grandchildren, Shanay, Nathan, Brittany, Carmen and Anthony; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Loretta Hill and Louise Stamper; one brother, Nathaniel (Mae Edith) Blackwell, of Chattanooga; four sisters-in-law, Claudette Keith, Gloria J. Williams, Mildred Keith and Louise Blackwell, of Chattanooga; several nephews, nieces and many other relatives and friends.Services will be held at noon on Monday, July 22, 2013, at Prospect Baptist Church, located at 734 Dodson Ave., Chattanooga with Pastor Jay Trimble officiating.Interment in National Cemetery.The body will lie in state after noon today and the family will receive friends from 6 7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
