Helen Lane

ROSSVILLE Helen Schmidt Lane, 88, passed away Friday, June 14, 2013 at her home.Helen was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and the North Georgia area. She was a bookkeeper for Kayo Oil Company and later retired from Hartford Carpet Mills. She was actively involved in several churches in the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church, serving as treasurer, singing in the choir and attending her United Methodist Women circle meetings. Her passions in life were her grandsons and watching the Braves play.Helen was preceded in death by her husband, James W. "Joe" Lane; sister, Olyse Jann; and brothers Eugene and Olin Schmidt.She is survived by her daughter, Tina (Gary) Paul; grandsons Austin and Jonah Paul; sister, Marguerite (Vernon) Heifner, all from Rossville; sister, Martha (Thomas) Penney, of Apopka, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.Condolences may be sent to www.lane-southcrestchapel.comFuneral services will be held in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home on Tuesday June 18, at 11 a.m. with Dr. Doug Fairbanks officiating.
