George Harrison

Sr.George Kenneth Harrison Sr., 94, a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and truly a man of God, departed this earthly life on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, to spend eternity with his Heavenly Father.He was a 1936 graduate of Central High School and an Edmondson Business College graduate. He was a World War II veteran and was awarded the Bronze Star for service in the Battle of the Bulge. He worked for the United States Postal Inspection Service for many years and was a real estate broker after retirement.He was a very devout member of St. John United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School for 50 years before retiring at age 90.He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Elwyn and Maude Gould Harrison; brothers, Morris, Segar and Charles Harrison; and a sister Betty Moseley.He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Bettye Ingle Harrison; daughter, Elwynn Schwartz and son-in-law, Hal Schwartz, of Chattanooga; son, George Kenneth Harrison Jr. and wife, Melanie Harrison, of Savannah, Ga.; two granddaughters, Karen (Art) Johnson, Chattanooga, and Susan (Mark) Crispell, Leland, N.C.; four grandsons, George Kenneth "Scoot" Harrison III, Denver, Colo.; Zach Harrison, Wilmington, N.C., Whit Harrison, McLean, Va., their mother, Kay Olive, McLean, Va.; Skip (Holly) Schwartz, Tokyo, Japan; four great-grandchildren, Caroline Reide, Nicholas Johnson, Skylar Schwartz and Blayden Schwartz; sisters and brother-in-law, the late Harold Ingle (Betty), Andrea Berry (Wayne), Ed Ingle "Catch", Peggy Harrison and the late Charles "Bo" Harrison, Alice Harrison, and a very special caregiver, Rebecca Crain.Our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Amedysis Hospice for their loving care and concern.Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 2, 2013 at 3 p.m. at St. John United Methodist Church with Dr. Ken LaDuke and Rev. Dallas Beck officiating.Entombment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with George K.
