Betty Hawkins

Betty Jo Hawkins passed away on Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at a local hospital surrounded by family. She was born June 1, 1940, to the late John Herschel Hawkins Sr. and Helen M. Hawkins. Betty was a retired certified nursing assistant, She lived in New York for many years before returning home to Chattanooga. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and her family. Betty's survivors include her sons, James G. Hawkins and Andre Hawkins, of Chattanooga: daughters, Carolyn Hawkins Burke and Kandy Hawkins, of Chattanooga; daughter, Janet E. Reeder, of Jamaica, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, Crystal (Carlos) Davis, Tanai Cooper, Jasmine Burke, Tiffany Anderson and Amya Anderson, Andre Hawkins Jr., Daniel Hawkins and Amiri Hawkins; eight great-grandchildren: Britanee' Foy, Christopher Foy, Teiyonna Douglas, Clarence Anderson, Gerald Anderson, Tania Anderson, Jacob Anderson and Jonathan Anderson; sisters, Peggy H. Moore and Helena Benn, both of Chattanooga; special niece and caregiver, Deborah Y. Davenport; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. A family and friends meet and greet will be held in honor on Sunday, Dec. 1, at 3:30 p.m. at New Covenant Fellowship Church located at 1326 N. Moore Road. Bettys family will honor her request of cremation of her remains.
