Buford Lash

FORT OGLETHORPE Buford Emory Lash, 86, passed away Monday Sept. 30, 2013, in Miami, Fla.He was born to the deceased Fannie O'Rear, Dec. 7, 1926, in Chattanooga.Buford is survived by his daughter, Terry Lash Haskins; son-in-law, John Haskins; granddaughter, Tessa Santillan (Jose), great-grandchildren, Giovanni and Tabitha; and many other loving relatives.He joined the Navy at 16 and served in World War II as a Seaman First Class on the U.S.S. Duplin. Buford was a well renowned hair stylist. He was an avid fisherman who found solace on the trails in Tennessee and Georgia. Buford was known for his gardening skills and revered for his tomatoes and okra by friends and family. He was an outdoorsman who loved nature and had a special gift with birds and animals.Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at Chattanooga National Cemetery.Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at Heritage Funeral Home in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, Battlefield Parkway.
