Janet Burke

Janet Burke, 62, of Chattanooga, Tenn., passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013 in her home, surrounded by family.She was born to Joseph and Lorraine Orenstein in Chicago, Ill. A graduate of SUNY, Janet was many things throughout her life: a teacher, an animal lover, a green-thumbed plant whisperer, the loving mother not only to her three children, but to many others in need of a thoughtful word or kind embrace. She loved nature, travel and art in all forms and created around her a vibrant environment of joy, excitement and acceptance. She was a friend and inspiration to more people than she'll ever know.Janet is survived by her husband Joe, Chattanooga, Tenn.; son Kynan, Chattanooga, Tenn.; daughter Alison, Boston, Ma.; son Owen, Cincinnati, Oh., and grandson Kynan.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Tennessee River Gorge Trust at http://www.trgt.org or mailed to Tennessee River Gorge Trust, 1214 Dartmouth St, Chattanooga, TN, 37405.A memorial service will be held Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013 at 4 p.m. at the Tennessee River Gorge Pot Point Cabin (17805 River Canyon Road, Chattanooga, TN 37402) followed by a reception 5-7 p.m.Please share your memories at http://www.heritagefh.com/.
