Frances Ford

Frances West Ford passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at the Hospice of Chattanooga Care Center.She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry B. Ford Sr.Frances was the daughter of Jesse Lucian and Mary Y. Bridgewater West. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her siblings, John B. West, Jesse L. West, Mary Etta West Smith, Elizabeth West Key, Lucye West Brown and Annie West Merryman.Frances grew up in Carthage, Tenn. After her parents untimely deaths, Frances was raised by her beloved uncle and aunts, Sam and Etta Haynie and Mary Bridgewater. She graduated from Carthage High School, and attended Middle Tennessee State Teachers College. Frances and Henry made their homein Chattanooga for over 50 years. Frances worked with Volunteer Life Insurance. Throughout her life, she was an active volunteer in church and community activities. After her retirement, she especially enjoyed volunteering at the Hunter Museum. She was an avid reader, and enjoyedfollowing her favorite football and basketball teams. Frances was blessed with extraordinary friends and neighbors throughout her life, as she made lifelong friends everywhere she lived, worshiped and worked.Survivors include her children, Henry B. (Donna) Ford Jr., Pam (Roger) Wright; grandchildren, Eric B. (Christina) Ford, Robbie Wright and Jessie Wright; cherished nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. EDT Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, in the funeral home chapel with Minister Dave Mellor officiating.Burial will follow at National Cemetery, Chattanooga.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hunter Museum of American Art, East Brainerd Church of Christ and the American Diabetes Association.Visit www.heritagefh.com to share words of comfort to the family and view the memorial tribute.The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-1:15 p.m. Friday at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
