Henry Mikolajczyk

Henry G. Mikolajczyk, 77, lost his battle with ALS on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, and went to tend Gods Gardens.Born in Chicago, Henry was a lifelong resident of Palatine, Ill., but recently relocated to Harrison, Tennessee. He was a parishioner of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Palatine. He was a graduate of Harrison Technical High in 1954 and the Wright Jr. College of Chicago. He retired from the claims department at Bankers Life and Casualty Co. with over 30 years of service. He was a radio operator in the U.S. Army. He was an avid gardener and great cook. He was a member of the Chicagoland, Elgin and Illinois Bowling Halls of Fame. He had bowled a perfect score of 300 at least 5 times in his career and was a participant of the USBC Open Championship for 47 years.He was the cherished husband of Kunja (Nee Kim) of over 51 years; loving father of Kristina (Jimmy) Jurka and proud Papa of Mitchell and Mason: dear brother of Gloria (the late John) Hurst, Evelyn (Stanley) Martin, Theresa Mikolajczyk, the late John (Millie) Mikolajczyk and the late Joseph Mikolajczyk. He was the dear uncle of many nieces and nephews.Graveside services with military honors will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Deacon Dan Alexander of St. Stephen Church officiating.At the family's request there will be no visitation at the funeral home.
